Starring SNL alum Dean Edwards, Race: The Movie: The Play is a biting, slapstick spoof of several popular Oscar-bait films.
Winner of the New York Theater Festival’s Best Script and Best Actor awards, Race: The Movie: The Play follows a white chauffeur named Wyatt Saveyer (Bret Raybould) who serves as the driver for a brilliant black musician named Gene Yus (Dean Edwards) on a tour through the 1850s deep south. The story quickly unravels and becomes a panoramic parody of all things tone-deaf Hollywood race movie (e.g. Green Book, 12 Years A Slave, Django Unchained & more). No white saviors are safe in this screwball comedy that’s been described by critics as “Mel Brooks for the modern era.”
Race: The Movie: The Play recently wrapped up its first off-Broadway run at the Soho Playhouse this past summer in which it sold-out its last six performances and had to extend the run. Critics raved for the production with the NY Post calling it a "thought-provoking and laugh out-loud satire."
Now, the show returns on NOVEMBER 10 for a special engagement at one of Brooklyn's hottest new performance venues 275 Park.
